About the event
The Poets begins with Victor Linklater in 2018. Vic saw an opportunity to further Gord Downie’s aspirations of educating and unifying Canadians in truth and reconciliation through the Downie Wenjack Fund, of which The Poets are artist ambassadors of.
The band continues into 2023 and beyond with their passion for building bridges and creating partnerships with Indigenous and non-indigenous people and communities across Ontario and Canada in the true spirit of Gord’s mission.
As the lyric in one of The Hip’s signature songs states, “let’s get friendship right.” This is the intention of every Poets performance: friendship through rock.
