Emily Granville is an Odawa-Cree student from Wiikwemkoong Unceded Indian Reserve on Manitoulin Island, ON. She learned trumpet and piano while in high school, after which they attended Cambrian College for Music Performance, opting to major in piano. Now in the Bachelor of Music program at Wilfrid Laurier University, she hopes to one day get a Masters in Cultural Music and Musicology, and eventually, a PhD in Indigenous music. Emily is an intermediate-advanced classical piano and trumpet player playing solo, in ensembles, and volunteers with the Community Music School of Waterloo Region teaching piano lessons. Emily enjoys working alongside their mentor curating and booking shows with Indigenous artists in hopes to make a more inclusive and accessible space for Indigenous musicians.
