Northern Comfort: A Drive Around Town

Directed By:

Mélanie Lameboy

Country:

Canada

Short documentary on life in Northern Quebec and the differences in living conditions between local Crees and non-Natives. A story of how being biracial and trilingual in Northern communities brings certain questions on the social dynamics between Crees and non-Natives living in Chisasibi. This film talks about encounters and discussions with non-Natives about the 3Ms of the North (misfits, missionaries, and money-makers) and how the subject of white fragility, white space and white savior complex came into play.
